We have developed a suite of methodologies that reveal how businesses operate behind the scenes. The work of our web developers sits at the intersection of web development, research, and investigative analysis.

About the Role:

We’re looking for a Junior Web Developer with a curious mindset and strong technical foundation to join our investigative team. This isn’t a traditional development position — you'll use your web development skills to explore, dissect, and understand websites in depth. From analysing site architecture and interpreting code to uncovering infrastructure choices, you’ll help reveal how businesses operate behind the scenes. You should enjoy solving puzzles, experimenting with data discovery methods, and digging into how things work under the hood.

The role requires a self-starter who takes ownership of work and is self-accountable. This is an opportunity to work in a growing and fast-paced company with strong leadership.

What we need you to do:

  • Investigate and document the user experience across target company websites
  • Run sites through a suite of data-discovery tools and custom methodologies
  • Analyse front-end code, network setups, and site architecture
  • Experiment with new techniques to reveal insights about business performance and digital infrastructure
  • Clearly summarise findings in a structured, repeatable way — outlining processes, tools used, and outcomes
  • Collaborate closely with the team to prioritise tasks and refine our research methodologies

What You Bring to Hatched:

  • Solid web development knowledge (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and an understanding of how modern websites are built
  • Ability to interpret and audit front-end code and basic server-side signals
  • Curiosity and a problem-solving mindset — you enjoy digging into systems and figuring out how they work
  • Ability to self-manage, take initiative, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Strong written communication skills for documenting methodologies and findings
  • Bonus: Familiarity with web scraping and parsing techniques
  • Bonus: Experience with manual testing, QA workflows, or basic network administration
